Jeffrey Sachs

An economist, academic, public policy analyst, former director of The Earth Institute, and director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University. President of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

In the book “The End of Poverty: How We Can Make It”, Sachs claims that “Africa’s governance is poor because Africa is poor”, reversing the commonly held assumption. According to Sachs, with the right policies, mass poverty – 1.1 billion people living on less than $ 1 a day – can be eradicated in 20 years.
